RAINTREE RV REPORT SUMMER 2009
Before I start I want
to THANK each and every one of you for all your help during our 2008-2009 season. It was great and you made it great. WHAT
WOULD WE DO WITHOUT OUR VOLUNTEERS? THANK YOU!
Miss you and hope you are enjoying your summer, where did
the summer go and I know some of you are saying, what summer? We went North and it was cold and we had rain. I could hardly
wait to get home and sweat. Yep, I am doing that and love it.
I am so excited I can hardly wait
for you to see the Clubhouse. It is beautiful. The viewing in the Clubhouse has improved and enlarged due to the removal of
the pillars. You won’t have to look at a wall. Thank you to the Paddacks and to all who helped with the renovation.
You will be pleased and very surprised.
We are starting off October 31, Halloween, with a dinner
party at 5:30 pm. Menu: pizza, salad, dessert and beverage. Karaoke with Joe Clayberger after dinner. Tickets $5.00. Please
see Jo for tickets at Lot P-26 or put money in envelope with your name and lot number, place in my mailbox and I will deliver
the tickets to you. Costumes are optional. If you have a costume, please wear it. For those of you who
do not like costumes, we thought of wearing Halloween shirts with shorts or whatever.
Last year
Beach Day was such a success we are having another one. Beach Day at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, Naples, Fl., Thursday,
November 5, 9:00 am. At 5:30 in the Clubhouse, we will have hamburgers, chips, slaw and beverage for $2.00. See Jo for tickets,
please remember no tickets sold at the door. Andy and Dorothy Bos have volunteered to cook the burgers. If you would like
to help, contact Andy. Ticket needed only for the hamburger.
All activities begin the week of
November 8th.
November 11: Veteran’s Day tribute to veterans at 11:00
am. Veterans, if you have photos in your military outfit, please give photos to Jo and they will be displayed on a board at
the parade.
Raintree Chorus practice for the Christmas Program will meet in the Clubhouse, Thursday, November
12 at 10:00 am. Please note the time change.
Reservations have been made for the Broadway Palm Theatre
first show is “A CHRISTMAS CAROL”, Saturday, December 5th. If you plan to attend please notify me by
phone, mail or email. My email address is jomani5@aol.com. Lunch at 11:45 and Show at 1:15 pm Admission is $45.00. Other shows scheduled are: GEORGE M, a toe tapping
musical based on the life of George M. Cohen, Thursday, January 28th. THE KING AND I, a moving story of a determined
English schoolteacher and the powerful King of Siam, Sunday, March 14th.
Ladies Luncheon
will be Wednesday, February 24th, Lunch at 11:45 and Show at 1:15, Tickets are $38.00. Show this year “ARE
WE THERE YET?” This show is a lively musical comedy that explores the trials and tribulations of family life; from childbirth
to senior prom, to empty nests and everything one encounters on the wonderfully bumpy road of life. This will be at the Off
Broadway Theatre.
Blood Bank, Monday November 16th, 1:30 to 4:30, Clubhouse parking
lot.
First Troop Mailing will be Thursday, November 19th at 10:00 am in the Clubhouse
Lanai.
Friday, November 20th, Spirit Tailgate Party in front of the Clubhouse. This is a
park activity for everyone. Come and have fun cheering on your favorite team. Bring your banners and colors to decorate your
tables. I get so excited thinking about it. Let’s all have the Spirit. Hot Dogs will be served and again this is a PARK
ACTIVITY for everyone. Homecoming Dance will follow the Tailgate Party at 7:30 pm, Music by Andy and Kathy.
New
Year’s Eve tickets go on sale in the Clubhouse, Monday, December 7th at 9:00 am. Music by Fazz.
Raintree Christmas Program and finger foods, Wednesday, December 9th at 7:00.
You
are welcome to join us, singing, skits and etc. Practice is every Thursday morning in the Clubhouse at 10:00 am. We need more
skits.
Friday, January 8th, 7:30 pm in the Clubhouse,
Brian Roman. Brian is a singer and has a great voice and very handsome. Mmmmmmmmmmm
Friday, January
15th, 7:30 pm, American Bandstand, wear your red, white and blue and dance to the music of Motown.
This is a group you will really enjoy. A few of us have seen and heard them and we can hardly wait to have them at Raintree.
Memorial Service will be Sunday, January 17th, at 2:00 in the Clubhouse.
Audrey
Morton has a 10-day cruise taking off January 19th and includes Aruba, the Panama Canal and Jamaica. Annette Karpe
has a 3-day cruise leaving January 22nd which includes the Bahamas and a private island.
Kay
Pruitt is getting ready for the bazaar, Saturday, January 30th.
Saturday,
February 6th, Paddack Barbecue. After dinner, tables will be moved and the River Rats will put on an outside show
for all of us. We can all sit back and enjoy a great show by the River Rats, thanks to the Paddacks. Amos and Cookie will
also sing and play music during the day. Plan to attend, good food and great entertainment. This whole day is put on by the
Paddacks. THANK YOU.
Wednesday, February 10th, Timothy Hawkins, comedian and Suzi Cruz,
singer. These entertainers are great and you will be sorry if you miss this show.

14th, Valentine’s Day, Dance at 7:30 with Hors D’oeuvres, potluck, Music by Anything Goes, new to Raintree.
We had good reviews on this group and I know you will enjoy their playing.

Great shows coming in: Brian Roman, Suzi Cruz, Timothy Hawkins, Willie and
Company, Doerfel Family, River Rats, Amos and Cookie. Our shows are top quality and your presence is needed to continue to
have these great programs. We know you can’t attend all the events but appreciate the ones you do. Last season attendance

Raintree Derby coming, well ladies you know what that means – bring those fancy hats down and show
them off at the Horse Race.
If you had your caricature done by Lamar or someone else please bring it with
you for a contest. It will be fun trying to guess the real identity of the people in the caricatures.
New
ideas: Chili Contest has been brought to my attention and it sounds like it would be fun. We need a Chairman, we can explain
how it has been done or you may have some ideas. See Jo to volunteer.
Pancake/Sausage Supper
– it would be nice to have a pancake supper. We will still have the monthly morning Pancake Breakfast that we all enjoy
so much. We are also planning a pancake brunch.

Thank the Raintree Residents for all their generous donations of non-perishable goods when they were leaving the park for
the summer. 6 bikes were also donated. These were all donated to the North Fort Myers Neighborhood Task
Force. You deserve a Big Thank You.
Ladies if you are interested in knitting or crocheting bring
your needles and soft yarn with you. There will be a Beginners Class teaching you how to make shawls for the sick. These shawls
are made with love and 37 have been received. The Raintree Shawn Ministry (Our Raintree Angels)

Gretta: To all quilters and wanna-be quilters:
We will start with a Christmas Table Runner in November,
also a bag. Main project will be Stack and Whack Quilt (kaleidoscope). Beginners are welcome every Monday at 1:00 pm in the
CQ Building.
Don’t forget to bring your bowling balls and shoes, bowling every Tuesday at 9:00 am and
Friday at 2:00 pm.
All activities were not covered in this letter and remember some are subject
to change.
My job is to coordinate all activities in the park and some that are outside of the park. ALL
CHANGES of scheduled activities pertaining to day, hour and location must be cleared through me first to avoid conflicts with
other scheduled activities.
I AM HERE FOR YOU AND NEVER TOO BUSY, SO PLEASE LET’S WORK TOGETHER. WE
WILL HAVE A FUN YEAR.
